What our clients say
“Low premium, great communication, year in and year out.” Since 2014
Hello Expats, I have been a member of HCI since August 2013 and live abroad. On October 31, 2013 I had, very unexpectedly, a heart attack. I was 45 years old and always lived a fairly healthy and active lifestyle. Fortunately, I recognized the warning signs and went to the doctors office to have my blood pressure checked and while hooked up to the EKG machine, it happened. The doctor was able to revive me with CPR and defibrillation. And later that day had a stint placed in, what they call, “the widowmaker” artery. Well, fortunately I had HCI’s catastrophic health insurance policy with a $2000 per incident deductible. Living abroad allows me to purchase health insurance from other more affordable resources in Europe. Otherwise, I would have been unable to afford health insurance from the US. My experience with HCI claims went very well. I contacted Offshore Health Benefits, Ltd, as soon as I was stabilized and he notified HCI of my situation. I was able to communicate all the information HCI needed via email and by Dec. 2013 my 40k claim was settled. So, for those of you considering HCI. I just wanted to pass along my recent experience so that you can, more confidently, decide if the HCI plan is right for you.
